New York Style Bagels
Servings: Makes 6-8 Bagels
Prep Time: 1H
Cook Time: 25M
Total Time: 14H45M
Total Time Includes: 20 minutes to make the dough, 12 hours to proof in the fridge, 20 minutes to form the bagels, 1 hour 20 minuses to rest the dough, 20 minutes to boil the bagels, and 25 minutes to bake.
Ingredients:
Dough
1 tbsp (10g) Dry Yeast
1 1/2 tbsp (13.5g) Sugar
1 1/4 cup (250g) Warm Water
3 1/2 cups (500g) Bread Flour
1 1/2 tsp (12.5g) Salt
Assem
3 tbsp Baking Powder
1 tbsp Salt
!/4 cup Almond Milk
Description:
In a small bowl, combine yeast, sugar and warm water. Set aside until the mixture.
In a large bowl add flour and salt - whisk to combine. Add it to the flour and stir to combine. Once the mixture has started to come together, turn it out onto a floured surface and use your hands to bring the dough together. Knead the dough until it forms a smooth (soft but not sticky) ball. This will take about 5 to 10 minutes. Place the kneaded dough in an oiled bowl, cover and place in the fridge to proof overnight (12 hours).
After 12 hours, remove the dough from fridge and divide the mixture into equal portions (I made 7 portions at about 130g each). Roll each portion to form a ball. Let sit covered, at room temperature for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, roll the dough in your hands to form the hole in the middle (as shown in above video). Place each formed bagel on a parchment lined baking sheet. Let sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Then transfer to the fridge for another 30 minutes.
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add 3 tbsp baking powder and 1 tbsp of salt. Add bagels and boil on each side for about 1 minute. Transfer the boiled bagels to a parchment lined baking sheet. Brush with almond milk.
Bake at 425F for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

    Is it smells good sir? I often stir fried champignon mushroom like u did (minus the leaf) to make broth for instant noodle and i know it doesnt smells better than just boiled the mushroom without stir fried it. Just wondering if the leaf really make it different.

    Thank you!! I plan on going vegan when I’m older (tried being vegetarian, it probably would have stuck if my family didn’t make jokes about it and stuff, so I stopped and decide to try again when I move out) and pasta is MY FAVORITE because of how customizable it can be, and I briefly wondered if it would be possible to make eggless noodles, so this is absolutely perfect, and I’ll definitely keep this recipe in mind!!

    • @daisychains6866
      @daisychains6866 5 років тому

      Traditionally, egg belongs neither in Italian pasta dough nor in Asian noodle dough. If a recipe has egg in it, it's for tourists and unsophisticated people who don't know to cook pasta/noodles properly and don't respect the cuisine. Btw, I'm really sorry to hear that your family is bullying you for growing into a more ethical person than they are... bc the reason why they're so hostile to you on this issue is probably that they don't want to think about their own mistakes. Nobody's likes that something they're doing for their whole life is immoral. They probably still think of you as a little child and seeing you being a more responsible person than them must feel pretty humiliating. That doesn't give them the right to be so mean and rude to you, though. They're you family and should support you becoming a responsible adult. You don't have to make the same mistakes as them to appease them. If it's more than a few months until you move out, please don't let their negativity get to you. As long as they're not actively sabotaging you, they will eventually get over it. As a lesbian vegan atheist, my life would be extremely miserable if I had let my family get the best of me. Please, stay true to yourself and true to your heart!

      im having a hard time understanding other humans, how can you let human scumbags to push you down? blood or not thats not what makes a family. and if you really wanna go vegan then how can you stand eating meat right now? maybe youre just doing it for the health benefits i dont know.

    • @daisychains6866
      @daisychains6866 5 років тому

      @@depopa1033 WTF is wrong with you!? I've heard a lot of victim blaming BS -- but how can you attack a child for being mistreated by their family!? If you're literally dependant on a family who disrespect and mistreat you, it's not about "letting" them do something. They can do whatever the f-ck they want to you and all you can do is trying to survive until you can get out. Legally, children are property. If someone abuses a puppy, are you getting mad at the puppy for "letting it happen"? "im having a hard time understanding other humans" Obviously! You lack empathy and life experience. Obviously you've never been in a situation where someone who had power over you forced you to do something you didn't want. If someone uses force against you until you give in, that's not a decision you made. You just give up resistance bc they're gonna have it their way anyway.

    • @depopa1033

      "moving out soon" yeah obviously a kid, and no experience. Seems like growing up with an abusive father that beat me and my mom every night wasn't enough :) its not a matter of law its a matter of pride, id rather beat up my shitty dad than become his slave and enduring his abuse. id rather die even.

    • @nivekthezombie6767
      @nivekthezombie6767 5 років тому

      Depopa When did I say I’d be moving out soon? I said “when I move out”. Obviously I’m not able to go anywhere anytime soon, I’m 14. And my parents aren’t really abusive, they’re just not really good parents. I feel there’s a line between “bad parenting” and “abuse” and they fall on the “bad parenting” side of it, but just barely, because I’m the only one who seems to have a problem with them? They’re not THAT bad, but there are definitely things they should do and stop doing.
